WEDNESDAY 12th NOVEMBER – KNOLE PARK, SEVENOAKS

As this Wednesday Walk is in a figure of eight it is possible to only do half making it a short walk.

Here is some some hopefully helpful information:

Entrance and Parking

Access to the Park is available via several gates around the park and is free for walkers. The main gate is from the High Street for pedestrians and cars. Cars are checked at the gatehouse and both drivers and passengers have to present NT membership cards or otherwise there is a £6 fee per person without. However… if a passenger gets out of the car before the gatehouse he/she becomes a walker and entrance is free! Walkers from the gatehouse can go straight ahead and at the point where the road turns to the left, take the more direct path up to the right leading up to the rear of the car park. Cars will find it simpler to avoid the first car park entrance to the right as this takes you on a long uneven route to the rear. Drive onward then turn right. Either park on the left hand side of this exit road (not in front of the reserved sign) or slip carefully in through the no entry sign(!) to the back of the car park where we can gather.

Toilets – Yes – at the start, lunch stop and finish.

Footwear – Wellies not needed – boots are fine.

Length and Lunch

About 4 and a bit miles in a figure of 8 with a longer first loop. There is the option to do just the first loop to our lunch stop which will be at the designated picnic tables. So – no need to bring own seats or covers. And no need to carry our lunch on the walk, as we can pick these up from our cars as we pass towards lunch. There is also the possibility of popping down to the café for a coffee. However, I would not recommend it after Saturdays effort – I think I would still be waiting! There are no stiles, no cows and no boggy bits.

One last thing, It is a sensitive time for the deer – with many pregnant. All dogs must on leads throughout the walk.
